Jean Delville was a symbolist painter, author, poet, hermetic
philosopher, teacher and occultist from Belgium. Delville helped
organized the Salons d'Art Idéaliste; a group whose goal was to
continue the tradition of idealistic Art. Delville traced this
idea-based Artwork all the way back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
Through his painting and ideology he became a leading exponent of the
Belgian Idealist and symbolist movements in art during the 1890s. His
paintings are often representative of the idea that the inner light or
soul could be trapped by the physical body. His output coincided with
the height of the popular Occult movements in Europe. CZYTAJ DALEJ
